Six Drunks Arrested For DWI

The sheriff's office joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in a Christmas weekend crackdown on drunken drivers, targeting high-risk locations at times when alcohol-related crashes are most frequent.
Those charged with DWI for the third time were Arthur Cabral, 48; Deshawn Robert Diggs, 25; Rolando Salazar, 45; David Preston Saul, 59; Michael Aaron Wingard, 36; and Roberto Ventura, 29.
The sheriff's office said its traffic enforcement and patrol deputies will also be on high alert during the New Year's Eve weekend.
"We want the residents of Harris County to celebrate the holidays and enjoy the company of family and friends, but not if that means behaving in a way that will bring harm to themselves, their loved ones or innocent strangers on the roadways," Garcia's statement said.
In 2011, the Harris County Sheriff's Office reported 12 drunken driving deaths and made 258 DWI arrests between Nov. 21 and Dec. 31, according to the statement.
