Splendora area couple went to jail together over the weekend, after
the woman called 9-1-1 to get police to their home, despite knowing her
boyfriend was a wanted felon, and then lied to responding officers to
protect him.
Around 2 p.m. Saturday, a Precinct 4 Deputy Constable responded to a
disturbance call at a residence on Fostoria Road. Upon arrival, the
deputy was met by Kellie Allen, who said she was the reportee. A
neighbor then told the deputy two men were hiding in a pickup in back of
the house, and he thought it was because they had warrants. The deputy
then asked Allen who was on the property and she claimed nobody was
there, aside from herself, her mother, and her niece. The deputy asked
Allen several more times, and she repeatedly denied anyone else was
there. Allen said she didn’t know the two men on location when she
reported the disturbance, and furthermore, they were gone.
But the deputy did not give up. He obtained the homeowner’s consent
to look around, and he found a suspect he recognized as accused child
predator Brian Manning hiding in the bathroom of a travel trailer behind
the primary residence. The deputy asked the suspect his name and the
man identified himself as “Sean” Manning. When confronted, Manning
admitted he lied because he knew he had a felony warrant for Sexual
Assault of a Child. That child was also in the travel trailer with
Manning.
He said his girlfriend, Kellie Allen, told him to hide in the
bathroom when she called the police. Kellie Allen admitted she knew
Manning was a convicted felon.
Adding to Manning’s legal problems, the deputy saw a rifle in plain
view near the door of the trailer. Manning admitted placing it there,
saying he had it in case someone tried to steal from him. Manning also
admitted he had multiple felony convictions (he was unable to recall the
exact number), which made it illegal for him to possess the firearm.
Brian Eugene Manning, 28, of 9125 Fostoria Road in Cleveland is
charged with second-degree felony Sexual Assault of a Child (warrant);
third-degree felony Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon; and three
misdemeanor warrants for Failure to Appear; Theft $50 $500; and Capias
Pro-Fine. Manning remains jailed with bond set at $400,750.
Kellie Marie Allen, 32, of 9125 Fostoria Road in Cleveland is charged
with third-degree felony Hinder Apprehension or Prosecution of Known
Felon. Allen was released on $3,000 bond.
