MIDLAND, Texas -- A West Texas man has been sentenced to 15 years in
prison in a child pornography case with ties to New Zealand.
A federal judge in Midland on Thursday sentenced 59-year-old Ramon
Hilario of Odessa. Hilario in July pleaded guilty to distribution of
material involving the depiction of minors engaged in sexually explicit
conduct.
A detective with the national police force in New Zealand last
February was working online and downloaded about 30 child porn images.
Investigators say Hilario made the images available from his computer in
Texas.
Authorities discovered more than 6,900 child porn images on Hilario’s
computer, including some showing 4-month-old infants being abused.
The FBI and New Zealand Police conducted the investigation.
