NEW BOSTON, Texas -- An East Texas man has been sentenced to two life
terms in prison for sexually assaulting two sisters last summer.
Jerry Wayne
Johnson was enhanced because of seven prior felony convictions. A Bowie
County jury issued the punishment Friday against the 50-year-old.
Johnson was a friend of the girls' mother. She had asked him to share
an apartment so that Johnson could watch the girls, 12 and 14 at the
time, while the mother was away working as a truck driver. He moved out
shortly after the sexual abuse occurred.
The girls testified that Johnson made inappropriate comments, bought them underwear, raped them and allowed them to smoke marijuana.
The younger girl in December told her mother of the sexual abuse, and police were notified.
